TAX DEADLINES EXTENDED BECAUSE OF HURRICANE IDA
AUTOMATICALLY APPLICABLE TO ALL RESIDENTS OF LOUISIANA
(Also applies to any of our clients, even though you don’t live in the area, because your records are sent to this area for tax preparation. However, the relief is not automatic, it must be requested).
Tax Returns with deadlines beginning August 26, 2021 are now extended to become due January 3, 2022. This includes all business returns due September 15, 2021 and all individual tax returns due October 1, 2021.
Here is IRS official news release link:
Taxpayers in some areas of PA, NY, and NJ may also qualify for some relief. For details see: Help for Victims of Hurricane Ida | Internal Revenue Service (irs.gov).
To put it bluntly, the IRS has generously expanded the relief to those of us who did not experience appreciable damage in Hurricane Ida. Granted, we did spend time in anxious apprehension and making preparations. Hurricanes Laura and Delta are very fresh in our minds. In fact, we look out our windows and see evidence of them immediately and there is much clean up and rebuilding yet to be done.
So, take a little more time if you need it, but please don’t put your tax returns off till Christmas time! We may be short staffed over the holiday season.
